Simple Editing checklist

1. Is the format correct?
-Check the title, indenting, margins

2. Does the essay have an introduction, a body, and a conclusion?
-How many paragraphs does the essay have?
-Have many paragraphs are in the body?

3. Is there any background information?

4. Is there a thesis statement in the introduction paragraph?

5. Does each body paragraph have:
-(a) a clearly stated topic sentence
-(b) supporting details (such as facts, examples, and quotations)?

6. Does the conclusion
-relate the thesis or summarize the main points?
-give final thoughts on the subject of the essay?
